A Safe & Healthy Pregnancy
Becoming pregnant can be one of the most wonderful and exciting times in a woman’s life. As a Naturopathic Doctor who focuses on pre- and post pregnancy support, I work with many women throughout the various stages of their prenatal journey.
Pre-conception
Pre-conception health is becoming increasingly important, not only for fertility but also for the health of your baby. A developing fetus is exposed to many of the same environmental pollutants and toxins that build up in our bodies and can affect your health. Pre-pregnancy cleansing and detoxification is therefore an important part of planning to have a baby. Many nutritional requirements are also increased during the first trimester of pregnancy such as folic acid, iron and omega 3 fatty acids, therefore supplementing your diet with these nutrients is very important.
Pregnancy
Being pregnant is a very unique time in a woman's life from a health perspective. Many of the foods and medications your may take on a regular basis may suddenly be considered unsafe or a potential risk to the health of your baby. Naturopathic medicine can provide safe and naturally effective remedies and treatments for the common discomforts of pregnancy as well as relief for pain or infections. Pre-Birth Acupuncture treatments can help reduce length of labour and epidural rates, promote a reduction in medical interventions and increase likelihood of a normal vaginal delivery.

Post-Partum
Following the birth of your baby it will take your body some time to adjust to the changes that have taken place and for your body to go back to "normal". In the meantime, your fluctuating hormone levels can affect your mood, energy levels and state of wellbeing. It is important that while caring for your new born, that you remember to care for yourself. Post partum mood disorders are common and seeking treatment is crucial. Naturopathic therapies can help you achieve a state of balance and cope with the life changes you are going through. Other common postpartum concerns that bring women to my office after the birth of their baby is breastfeeding support, colic, newborn skin conditions, postpartum healing following tearing or
c-section, etc.
